Scott Carson and Gisella Arantes founded Partners for Home Care in 2016 after their own family required professional home care support. Experiencing the challenges of navigating care firsthand shaped their belief that families deserve reliable, dignified, and compassionate in-home services.
They built Partners for Home Care to provide personalized support, clear communication, and a team-based approach that keeps clients at the center of every decision. Their commitment to dependable, respectful care continues to guide the organization today.
Our journey began in 2007 when our father showed signs of a neurological disorder, initially diagnosed as ALS. What started as weakness in his arms gradually progressed, affecting his balance and mobility throughout his body.
As a family, we searched for answers and support. Through our family doctor, we connected with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. At first, assistance was limited and inconsistent. Care workers were available for short visits at unpredictable times, which often meant our father waited hours to begin his day. As his condition progressed and he lost strength in his legs, daily tasks such as stairs and showering became increasingly difficult.
Everything changed when the WRHA introduced us to the Self and Family Managed Care program. His needs had grown to 60 hours of support per week, and this program allowed us to build a customized care schedule that respected his routines. He could wake up when he chose, rely on consistent caregivers, and receive the level of assistance he truly required. The stability reduced stress for everyone and allowed meaningful relationships to form with those supporting him.
Through this experience, we realized many families are unaware of the options available to them and often feel there is no way to keep a loved one safely at home. That experience became the foundation for Partners for Home, so other families could access consistent, customized care without the uncertainty we once faced.
